The photo contest "Jews in Žemaitije" is a part of the project "Shalom, Akmene!", which is intended to nurture the Jewish cultural heritage in the Akmene region. Amateur and professional photographers from Akmenė, Šiauliai, Telšiai, Plungė, Skuodas districts participated in the competition. In the photos - portraits, moments from events dedicated to Jewish heritage, to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. The photo contest was organized by the MB "Pelėdiškių Ąžuolas" and the photo club "Lokys" of Akmenės and Mažeikių region, and the main sponsor is JSC "Akmenės Sveikatos Centras". The works were created during the years 2016-2021. Eugenijus Bunka, journalist and photographer, director of the Jakov Bunkas Support and Charity Fund, Aleksandra Jacovskytė, photographer, co-worker of Vilnius Gaonas Jewish History Museum, Antanas Adomaitis, sculptor and painter, Eduards Kapsa, photo artist (Latvia) worked in the competition jury. Currently, the exhibition of the works of the competition is traveling through Lithuania. Exhibitions took place in the Akmenė region museum, the Pakruojis synagogue, the Akmenė health center in Naujoji Akmenė, Mažeikiai culture centre. Planned - in Riga Lithuanian secondary school, Vilnius, Šiauliai, Kaunas district.
